The safety of California’s tomato crop is, and always will be, the highest priority of the Processing Tomato Advisory Board (PTAB). PTAB works as a partner with California tomato processors and inspection station personnel to ensure the safety of our food supply.

Our inspections are performed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, so we hire staff to work either “day” or “night” shift. Tomato harvest typically starts in July and can run through mid to late October. Each inspection station has unique staffing needs and designs best suited for each processor.
